April 6th, 2014
To Volleyball Parents and Guardians,
Below you’ll find the full schedule for April 12th and the locations of the April 26th and May 3rd meets. We will get you complete schedules the week before each meet. Here are a couple of notes on the meets:
1.       Host schools are allowed to charge $4 for adults and $2 for students for the entire day. We just wanted to let you know ahead of time of this charge. This entrance fee helps cover this school’s cost for janitors, ref pay, etc.
2.       Please refer back to the handbook to see the rules regarding serving line, 3rd game play, libero, etc. It is good to be informed of these items before watching the games. You can find them at gnbl.org also.
3.       At the parent meeting we had you check a box if you are willing to line judge. We will be contacting those parents this week to set up a schedule. If you didn’t check that you were willing, but are now willing, please email Coach Smith at smithm@spooner.k12.wi.us. We will need one line judge for every match.
4.        There are concessions served at every meet. You are also welcome to bring snacks and lunch items.
5.       We encourage you to carpool. This is a learning year. We just found out one of our location is Glenwood City & Osceola. These are around 1 hour away. Please carpool to cut down on driving expenses. If you would like us to help you find a family to carpool with, please let us know. We have very supportive families!
6.       Please remember that we are new to this league. Our girls are new at this. Although we will be excited for each game we win, we are more excited that our girls are learning the sport of volleyball and our ultimate goals are to build a sense of team, enjoy the game, and learn fundamentals.
7.       Also remember to show Spooner pride at meets. Respect toward officials, teams, and our team are mandatory.
Thanks for all you do for your daughter! – Spooner Youth Volleyball Coaches
PS: If you did not receive a phone call on Thursday, April 3rd regarding the snow cancellation, please see us because we do not have your correct phone number. We called and emailed all players as well as posted on the blog at www.spooneryouthvolleyball.blogspot.com
